Recently I did a post about why I was atheist, which can be found here.

I got carried away. I began talking about how I blame God for my CP and the reason why I wasn't Catholic was the fact that God has never intervened on the part of the little guy/person who's doing badly in life.

I don't mind my CP, it's there, I get on with my life, I don't dislike my life, I'm perfectly happy.

I started off good, but I kind of brought CP into it and it went out of control. Let me try again

I guess that the main reason would be just the fact that I dislike blind faith. Being taught to worship someone just because some people in white clothes tell us to. We're told that this being loves us all and will cradle us in Heaven. The part I dislike is the lack of proof. We are asked to go along with it because we are told. Nothing more. I don't know about you, but I'd like something a wee bit more substantial.

See how many words there were "told" or "asked"? Never anything like "shown" or "proven"

That said, if ever conclusive proof was to appear, I wouldn't have any problem joining Catholicism.

I liken god to (for the want of a better explanation) a placebo. Half of god's power is our own willpower. Having a god is comforting, like I said in the earlier post:

In my opinion, religion provides comfort. When someone dies, you find comfort in thinking that they're somewhere happy (predominantly in Ireland, it's somewhere with clouds and pearly gates) and when you're alone after an argument with someone, you find solace in the fact there is a being that's there 24/7.

That is one of the reasons god is still (for the want of of a better word) "popular". It's kind of strange how someone who can never be seen or heard, someone who is merely spoken about has survived all this time. Coincidence plays a part here. If someone is sick, you pray to god to make them better. Now, if they get better from the medicine, you are left thinking

"Well, was that the medicine that cured him or was it the fact I was praying?"

Usually people don't want to let go of the fact it could have been the prayer, but don't want to disregard the medicine in case some Karma comes into play the next time they're sick.

Thus god stays in people's minds.

There, I'm happier with that.

Bear in mind that this is all my own opinion and doesn't reflect anyone's views (except Tommy Collison's).

Reading someone's blog with Google Ads (although it wasn't a blog or post about it) and saw an ad for this

I should be laughing. I'm not.

I'm trying to figure it out exactly. Is it a hoax? Trying to get people's money. At 79$ it's an expensive mistake. It could be a placebo, where someone tells you it'll work and you want it to so badly your brain tricks you into thinking it's working. If it were free I'd lean towards someone trying to make someone else feel good, but 79$ brings me back to a hoax.

Seeing this website made me think how many others are out there. A quick Google search of "Cerebral Palsy cure" brought up "Advanced Centre", "Neurology Channel" and this one from CerebralPalsyInfo

#1 is just exercising/stretching, which I do already by cycling/doing stretches, and is only for keeping muscles from getting tighter, not curing CP

#2 is again just stretches, which is useless as a cure. It also mentions surgery, which is not a cure

#3 has three goals

First, a therapist will attempt to prevent muscle atrophy, or the deterioration of muscle tissue from lack of use.

Prevention of deterioration through lack of use is solved incredibly easily by exercise. My 3 year old cousin could have told me that. Surely if you have CP, it'd be the logical thing not to be lazy and spend your life watching TV?

The second goal is to avoid the contraction of muscles caused by the condition.

By physiotherapy. Again, not. a. cure.

Third, a skilled therapist can work with a patient to improve motor skills through a program of special exercises.

Haven't we been through this?!

In short, there is no cure for CP. Not as of 17:56 today, the 25th of September. CP can be managed, not cured
