While I try to keep this blog subject-neutral, it's inevitable that some pancake posts are going to slip in. While I edit my 40 minutes of footage that I shot on Friday, and try and turn that into a 6-8 instructional video, I'd like to reflect on something I realised.
My brother and pancakes are similar
When cooking pancakes, you pour the mixture out onto the pan, and wait 2-3 minutes before they turn golden-brown (in one of my takes cooking a pancake, I'm 90% sure I accidentally said "Gordon Brown". So, yes, cook pancakes until they look like Gordon Brown). The similarity isn't here, however. It's when you go to turn it.
What I do, is when it's 80% done, I start peeling the edges up, in anticipation of what is to happen (i.e turning it), to make sure it doesn't break. Kind of saying "Yes, I'm sorry it has to be this way, but yes, you do have to be turned. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry". This is where I find the similarity.
When waking my brother up, the trick is to go into his room, turn on the light and shout "get up!" in a loud voice about 15 minutes before he actually should be up.
You can kind of see how they are the same, don't you? :P
