You Never Miss The Water Til The Well Goes Dry
- Internet. You never really appreciate having always on internet until you're separated from it for 3 weeks. The only free wifi (or as the French call it; WeeFee) place was a bar by the square. At least 2 of us used to go down there and use their internet each day, often without buying anything. Toward the end, some of the looks I got worried me that they might be close to barring (no pun intended) us. But I had my (perfectly acceptable IMO) argument that so long as they had free wifi, they were gonna get people like me.
- The English Language. Seriously, not being able to communicate fully with people like waiters, hotel folk really sucks.
Things in France that Have Changed from Last Time
- Wifi. There weren't many places where you could get it last time, now, there are loads, in my experience however, not many a) don't have a password b) are in anyway not-slow and c) you can actually connect to
- Is it me, or did big 18 axle trucks race past cyclists at very high speeds and at very close distances all the time?
- The Wind. It was quite windy. Quite being an understatement (Quite the understatement, even :P) Big winds that would send you sprawling into the dust if you didn't have 100% control.
- Mosquitos have been replaced by midges, the bastards.
